Breakfast – This Saturday, October 5th from 8-11am. Cost $10.  Sponsored by the Epsilon Y’s Servie Club.  The winner of the 50/50 draw last time was Iris who shared in a pot worth $234.
 
Note the Change to the Seniors Prom in Celebration of the International Day of the Older Person – Saturday, Oct. 5, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Intercultural Centre.  Due to illness of some of the key members of the Thomists band, they are not able to perform.  Jim Axelrod’s Big Little Band will entertain instead. The band performs songs made famous by such artists as Billie Holiday, Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, Dutch Mason and the local Downton Blues Band.  We look forward to seeing you at the Prom on Saturday as planned. People have asked about what to wear? Our answer is- whatever you want.- just come! See you there! 
 
Apple Pie/Apple Crisp Sale-  It is that time of year again when a crew of volunteers get together to supply you with Apple Pies and Apple Crisps for your Thanksgiving dinner. The following is the schedule: 
 Sunday, October 6, we will be making 60 pies beginning at 10:00 am. They will be ready for pickup from noon until 4:00 pm. Your order must be picked up during that time as we have no space to store them.
   Monday, October 7,  and Tuesday, October 8, we will start  making crisps at 3:00pm and pick up after 4:30 pm each day. We hope to make 140 crisps. Once again, orders must be picked up on the day.Both pies and crisps are $10 each and 3 for $25. Sign up sheets will be up today, Oct. 2. Pay on pickup, cash or cheque.Thank you once again for your support for this fundraising event. 
 
 
Lunch around Freddy- Wednesday October 16th - Join us at Minglers – 203 Restigouche Rd. in Oromocto. When you sign up, please indicate if you need a drive or if you are willing to take passengers for the trip (and how many). Drivers and rides will be matched up. We should be leaving the Centre by 10:30 am to arrive for our usual 11:30 meal.
 
Scrabble Tournament- Saturday October 26th 11:30 to 4:00. More info to come
 
Fluid Dance - 12:45 pm Tuesdays.  Looking for participants.  Fluid dance offers Salsa, Cha-Cha, Waltz, Shimmy, and more. Mirror image instructions takes the anxiety out of learning.  We have fun!  $5.00 a class.
 
Christmas Bus Trip – Saturday, November 16th 2024 - McAdam Train Station Tour with a Twist- COME ONE , COME ALL
You will board your bus at 10:45 am at Grant Harvey Arena, travel to McAdam where you will enjoy lunch at the Lions Club, and enjoy Christmas shopping at a large Craft Sale, followed by a Tour of the McAdam Station.
You will be Home by supper time.  First 50 members: $70.00 -Non -Members $120.00.  Deadline to register October 18th.  This trip is generously  subsidized by a grant from Shannex.
 
Volunteering at the Centre – Many volunteering opportunities exist at the Centre.  From Reception at the front desk, helping out with fundraisers, facilitating programs and activities, joining the board of directors, serving on a committee, and much more.  Let us know what interests you! Cookie Dough Fundraiser by The Elm City Echoes
Fredericton’s Ladies Barbershop A Cappella Chorus, are selling 3-pound resealable tubs of Mrs. Dunster’s cookie dough as a fundraiser. 
The cookie dough can be refrigerated or frozen before baking.  Each tub makes between 3 and 4 dozen cookies and sells for $15 per tub.  There are no peanuts or tree nuts in any products at Mrs. Dunster’s Bakery. Six flavours are available: Chocolate Chip, Rainbow Chip, Shortbread, Ginger Snap, Oatmeal Raisin, and Double Chocolate Chip. Orders accepted until Oct. 11. Wheels to Meals – Lunch, a drive, and entertainment for $10! Most Tuesdays at 11:30.  Organized by Meals on Wheels of Fredericton, a volunteer will provide transportation to arrive at St. Mary’s Anglican Church on McEvoy St., where a hot meal is freshly served, including dessert, tea/coffee.  After lunch, local entertainers will perform and then your volunteer will take you home around 1 pm. All inclusive!  To register call 506-458-9482 by Monday at noon.
