Free Phone-Based Wellness Program for Older Adults – Participants Invited
St. Thomas University, in collaboration with the University of Manitoba, is hosting a series of workshops as part of a national project, and this is the only Atlantic Canada site to be a part of this programming. We’re looking for older adults to join a supportive, 6-week program designed to help people feel more connected and build skills for coping with life’s challenges.  Two sessions available: January–February or March–April. Each weekly call is 90 minutes, and everything happens over the phone, so participants can join from home—no travel required.  For further information, contact Lyne Ouellet at 506-300-5252 or [email protected]

Greener Village:   Turkey Drive – The goal is 2,200 turkeys.  Donate at participating local grocers.  Every $35 buys a turkey for a family in need.  For more information 506.459.7461 or [email protected]

Meals on Wheels Appeal - As you are aware, the need for the service that Meals on Wheels provides has grown substantially. We are on track to deliver over 100,000 in this fiscal year.  If you would like to support this annual fundraising initiative, the options below work very well:
E-Transfers: [email protected]
Online Donations: www.frederictonmealsonwheels.ca via the Canada Helps link.

NBCC – Life-long Learning for Seniors (60+) – FREE

Understanding How Retirement Affects Older Adults (UNB Research)  Participants will be asked to complete a survey in person or online.  If after the initial survey, you are interested in continuing, an interview will be scheduled.  This research is looking into physical health, mental health, social connections, financial security, and spiritual fulfillment.  Incentives are available for those who participate. Contact Dr. Yasin at [email protected] or 506-452-6370 Survey link: https://surveys.unb.ca/index.php/914789?lang=en

HIGH PRIORITY DISASTER RESPONSE REGISTRY is for Fredericton residents who may need additional assistance beyond what the general public would need in an emergency but who do not have nearby family or professional support. Residents should NOT register if they live in an assisted living facility or other licensed residential health care facility; have a built-in support system at home (i.e. medical alert system); or live outside city limits.  You should still have a plan that includes a 72-hour emergency kit.  To register yourself or someone you care about:
https://www.fredericton.ca/en/resident-services/public-safety/emergency-preparedness/high-priority-disaster-response-registry.  If you need further assistance, please contact Brad Cameron at 506-460-2020, who can complete the form on your behalf.
