Week of May 18th, 2026 506-450-7849 Centre is closed on Monday, May 18th 2026 SSSC Trivia Night – Friday, May 15th. Doors open at 6:00pm and “quizzing” starts at 6:30pm. There will be snacks. Scrabble Tournament- Saturday, May 16th at 1:00pm. Cost $5. Minimum two (2) tables required. Call or sign-up at the Centre! Info Session – Wednesday, May 20th at 10:30 am. Understanding Gambling and Alcohol Use in Later Life with Dr. Janet Durkee Lloyd. This presentation examines how alcohol use and gambling affect people as they age. It will explore how alcohol uniquely impacts older adults, what problem gambling is, and how it can affect older individuals. Upcoming Events: Core Strength and Mobility- Tuesdays at 10:30am from May 26th to July 28th. $120 for 9 weeks or $15 per class. Functional Mobility- Tuesdays at 11:30am from May 26th to July 28th. $120 for 9 weeks or $15 per class. Line Dancing. Wednesday, May 27th is the last day for the program before summer. Info Session- Wednesday, May 27th at 3:00pm- Member and local Author- Evans Estabrooks- Discussing his Biography- Haydays. The story of the first 10 yrs in a farm boy’s life in Eastern Canada during the mid-20th Century. The book was self published. Evans will have copies available for sale and signing at $15 with proceeds from the sale going to Stepping Stone Senior Centre. Yard/Bake Sale - Saturday, May 30th from 8:00 am to noon. Tables available to rent: Members pay $10 and Non-members pay $20. The Centre will be accepting donations for their tables after May 25th. Storage space is an issue. Volunteers for Friday set up and Saturday morning, please sign up at the Centre. Information Session – Service Canada – Wednesday, June 3rd at 3:00 pm. Come learn about CPP, OAS, GIS, Dental Plan, Passports, and much more! Everyone is welcome! No charge!! Community Health: Our Board of Directors asks you to please use the hand sanitizer available on entering the Centre. Masks are available. If you are able to, please assist with the sanitizing of chairs and equipment used in your program. Together, let’s work to keep you and our Centre community healthy. Notices of Interest from the Centre: Step it Up for Stepping Stone Senior Centre's 25th – Twenty-two members registered, three could not complete the assignment due health concerns, and three did not report their participation by this date. A total of 1,090.3 kilometres were reported by 10 members and 213.58 hours reported by 11 participants. Donations Needed for Outreach Program - Every week since June 2025, women have weekly visited downtown Fredericton with a wagon full of needed items and food to give out to people living on the streets. At Stepping Stone Senior Centre, we will take the month of May to support this worthwhile initiative. We will make use of the box in front of the volunteer desk in which we normally gather items for Greener Village. Please consider supporting this outreach program by dropping off the following items:

Join family physician Dr. Doug Oliver to review what blood pressure numbers mean, what has changed in the recent Hypertension Canada guidelines, and how high blood pressure is diagnosed and treated today. You order a bag (large, reusable) on the first Thursday of the month and pick up your bag the second Thursday of the month. Order by phone or email and pick up in the parking lot beside the Stepping Stone Senior Centre at 11 am. You pay $15 for a bag worth at least $30 worth of produce.
