Tech Help at The Centre - We are fortunate to have two students who have offered to hold one-on-one sessions in August with our Members.  Each date and time will accommodate 2 Members. You are asked to bring your device. The dates are:
- Tuesday, August 11 from 10:00 to 11:30
- Thursday, August 13 from 9:30 to 11:00
- Tuesday, August 25 from 10:00 to 11:30
- Thursday, August 27 from 9:30 to 11:00.
If you are interested, please call the Centre (506-450-7849) to register. First come, first served. 
 
Movie – Wednesday, August 12th at 1:00 pm.  The Sheep Detectives with Hugh Jackman, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Emma Thompson.  When their beloved farmer is found dead under mysterious circumstances, a flock of the sheep conclude they will have to solve the murder themselves.  No registration required. 
 
SSSC Trivia Night - Friday, August 14th.  Doors open at 6:00pm and “quizzing” starts at 6:30pm. Please bring snacks to share.  Free and open to the public.
 
Scrabble Tournament- Saturday, August 15th at 1:00 pm. Cost $5. Minimum two (2) tables required. Call or sign-up at the Centre.
 
Upcoming Events:
 
Blueberry Social- Wednesday, August 19th at 1:30pm. Cost $5. Cake with Blueberry Sauce, Tea and Coffee along with entertainment by the Silver Stones.  Must register by 4:00 pm on Monday,       August 17th.
 
Lunch around Freddy- Friday, August 21st at 11:30am. Coffee Mill - 1187 Smythe St. Please sign up by noon on August 20th.
 
Garrison Market - Thursday, August 27th from 4:00-9:00pm. We will be handing out brochures and other information as well as selling Jam and Biscuits. Members, we can use volunteers to staff the table.  Please sign up at the Centre.  Please drop by the booth to say hi if you attend.

Jam Jars- You Love Our Jam... We'd Love Your Jars! If you've enjoyed our jam, we'd love to give our jars a second life! We're looking for 250 ml Mason Jars.  If you have any that you’re willing to part with, we'd really appreciate getting them.
 
Our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Stephen Patterson who died on July 21st.  Stephen facilitated the Bentley Group at the Centre for many years.  He will be missed.
 
The Wagon Outreach thanks to the members of Stepping Stone Senior Centre for their donations in the months of June and July. This effort will continue throughout August. Suggested donation items
are listed on the box which is by the front desk at the Centre.

Community Health:
 
Our Board of Directors asks you to please use the hand sanitizer available on entering the Centre.  Masks are available. If you are able to, please assist with the sanitizing of chairs and equipment used in your program. Together, let’s work to keep you and our Centre community healthy.

Lunch & Learn – National Seating & Mobility – Thursday, August 27th at 1:00 pm.  Presented by the Nursing Home Without Walls at the YCC Friendship Centre, 100 Sunset Dr.  RSVP by August 20th.  NS&M offers custom wheelchair fittings, stair lift installation, and on-site repairs.
 
Solar Eclipse- Ted Dunphy is with the Astronomical Society. On Wednesday, August 12th between 1:00 and 4:00 pm, we will experience a partial Solar eclipse. They are going to set up 3 telescopes in Wilmot Park area for public viewing.
 
Climate Change Conference (Saint John & virtual) – Friday, October 2, 2026 (registration closes September 29) Registration fee: $15.  Fundy Room, Diamond Jubilee Cruise Ship Terminal, Saint John. The morning will be presentations of 5-10 minutes each with networking opportunities and the afternoon will be experiential learning for those who are in-person and an interactive activity for those who join in online.
