Weekly Update Week of August 3rd, 2026 506-450-7849 Monday, August 3rd – The Centre is closed Infused Water! Discover a delicious way to hydrate!! This Friday, July 31st at 10:00 am. We will have a variety of refreshing, infused waters ready for you to try. Breakfast – This Saturday, August 1st from 8-11am. Sponsored by Dairy Queen Fredericton/Oromocto. The winner of the 50/50 on July 4 was Ron and he shared in a $201 pot. Upcoming Events: Movie – Wednesday, August 12th at 1:00 pm. The Sheep Detectives with Hugh Jackman, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Emma Thompson. When their beloved farmer is found dead under mysterious circumstances, a flock of the sheep conclude they will have to solve the murder themselves. SSSC Trivia Night - Friday, August 14th. Doors open at 6:00pm and “quizzing” starts at 6:30pm. Please bring snacks to share. Free and open to the public. Scrabble Tournament- Saturday, August 15th at 1:00 pm. Cost $5. Minimum two (2) tables required. Call or sign-up at the Centre! Garrison Market on Thursday, August 27. We will be handing out brochures and other information as well as selling jam and biscuits. Members, we can use volunteers to staff the table. Please sign up at the Centre. Please drop by the booth to say hi if you attend. Notices of Interest from the Centre: Our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Stephen Patterson who died on July 21st. Stephen facilitated the Bentley Group at the Centre for many years. He will be missed. The Wagon Outreach thanks to the members of Stepping Stone Senior Centre for their donations in the month of June. This effort will continue throughout July and August. Suggested donation items are listed on the box which is by the front desk at the Centre. The Centre is now a member of Canada Helps, a national organization that supports charities with administrating donations. Community Health: Our Board of Directors asks you to please use the hand sanitizer available on entering the Centre. Masks are available. Solar Eclipse- Ted Dunphy is with the Astronomical Society. On Wednesday, August 12th between 1:00 and 4:00 pm, we will experience a partial Solar eclipse. They are going to set up 3 telescopes in Wilmot Park area for public viewing. UNB Research – Investigating Muscle Patterns – In person, in the Currie Centre. If you are over 30 years of age and free of upper limb injury you are invited to participate. Food Smart is a monthly food buying program. You order a bag (large, reusable) on the first Thursday of the month and pick up your bag the second Thursday of the month. Order by phone or email and pick up in the parking lot beside the Stepping Stone Senior Centre at 11 am. You pay $15 for a bag worth at least $30 worth of produce.
