SSSC Trivia Night – This Friday, August 14th.  Doors open at 6:00pm and “quizzing” starts at 6:30pm. Please bring snacks to share.  Free and open to the public.
 
Scrabble Tournament- This Saturday, August 15th at 1:00 pm. Cost $5. Minimum two (2) tables required. Call or sign-up at the Centre.
 
Jazz Fitness – Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 pm.  A fun way to stay active all summer long!!  All fitness levels welcome! $5 per class – no need to register, just drop in.  Facilitator: Deborah Stewart
 
Blueberry Social- Wednesday, August 19th at 1:30pm. Cost $5. Cake with Blueberry Sauce, Tea and Coffee along with Entertainment by the Silver Stones. Must register by 4:00 pm on Monday, August 17.  We are participating in the Wild Blueberry FlavourFest!
 
Lunch around Freddy- Friday, August 21st at 11:30 am. Coffee Mill - 1187 Smythe St. Please sign up by noon on August 20th.
 
Upcoming Events:
 
Tech Help at The Centre - We are fortunate to have two students who have offered to hold one-on-one sessions in August with our Members.  Each date and time will accommodate 2 Members. You are asked to bring your device. The dates are:
- Tuesday, August 25 from 10:00 to 11:30
- Thursday, August 27 from 9:30 to 11:00.
If you are interested, please call the Centre (506-450-7849) to register. First come, first served. 
 
Movie – Wednesday, August 26th at 1:00 pm.  The Sheep Detectives with Hugh Jackman, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Emma Thompson.  When their beloved farmer is found dead under mysterious circumstances, a flock of the sheep conclude they will have to solve the murder themselves.
 
Garrison Market on Thursday, August 27th at 4:00. We will be handing out brochures and other information as well as selling jam and biscuits. Members, we can use volunteers to staff the table.  Please sign up at the Centre.  Please drop by the booth to say hi if you attend.

You Love Our Jam... We'd Love Your Jars!  We'd love to give the jars a second life! We're looking for 250 ml jars.  If you have any, and bring them in, we'd really appreciate it.
 
The Wagon Outreach – Thank you to the members of Stepping Stone Senior Centre for their donations! This effort will continue throughout August. Suggested donation items
are listed on the box which is by the front desk at the Centre.

Members! You can rent the Centre for family celebrations and pay 50% of the rental fee!
 
Community Health:
 
Our Board of Directors asks you to please use the hand sanitizer available on entering the Centre.  Masks are available. If you are able to, please assist with the sanitizing of chairs and equipment used in your program. Together, let’s work to keep you and our Centre community healthy.

Lunch & Learn – National Seating & Mobility – Thursday, August 27th at 1:00 pm.  Presented by the Nursing Home Without Walls at the YCC Friendship Centre, 100 Sunset Dr.  RSVP by August 20th.  NS&M offers custom wheelchair fittings, stair lift installation, and on-site repairs.
 
211 is a national referral Help Line phone number that will give you free and confidential information about services available in your area.  They provide info about financial assistance, food access, programs for seniors, housing and shelter, mental health, employment and training, newcomer services, and family supports for your area and in your language.
 
Food Smart is a monthly food buying program.  You order a bag (large, reusable) on the first Thursday of the month and pick up your bag the second Thursday of the month.  Order by phone or email and pick up in the parking lot beside the Stepping Stone Senior Centre at 11 am.  You pay $15 for a bag worth at least $30 worth of produce.  Contact Mary Farrell at 506-455-1251 or email [email protected]  to order.
