Stepping Stone is closed Monday August 4th. Happy New Brunswick Day!
 
Breakfast- Saturday, August 2nd from 8:00 to 11:00am. Cost $10. Everyone welcome.
 
Bread Making – Although Monday, August 4th is a holiday, Greener Village is still open for bread making. Members are welcome to go for the 9:00 – 11:00 am session, or the 12:00 – 2:00 pm session.
 
Short Story Book Club – Because Monday, August 4th is a holiday, we will be reading two short stories on Monday, August 11th from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm. We will be reading “The Fly” by Katherine Mansfield and “If a Book is Locked There’s Probably a Good Reason for That, Don’t You Think” by Helen Oyeyemi. Monday, August the 11th will be the last session of the Short Story Book Club.
  
Music 101 for Performers – This Tuesday, August 5th from 1:30 – 3:00 pm. This program is for the Centre’s performers or those interested in joining the group. Whether you sing, play an instrument, or just want to learn the fundamentals of music, these sessions could be for you. No previous music experience is required. Should you be a concert trained performer, you are most welcome to come along. Other sessions will be held on August 19th, and 26th.
 
Morning Mix - Wednesday, August 6th, from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. Nursing Home Without Walls - Shannex will be joining us here at the Centre for a fun morning filled with coffee, chat and games! Come and join us, there will be a large variety of board and card games, coffee and tea, as well as breakfast snacks. 
 
Movie Showing- Tuesday, August 5th at 2:00 pm. “Barbie” with Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. This film follows Ken and Barbie’s self-discovery journey as they adventure from Barbieland to the real world following Barbie’s existential crisis.
 
Summer Games- Thursdays, from 10:00-11:00 am. The game(s) to be played will be decided that day by those who come to participate. This is not an instructed group, just drop in and join a group of friends who enjoy playing games such as Bocce Ball, Ladder Ball, Jumbo Connect 4, Bean Bag Toss, Bowling and more! There are instruction sheets available at the Centre for the game rules. Thursday, August 14th will be the last session of the Summer Games.
 
Arts and Crafts – In conjunction with the Creative Seniors Craft Group, Thursdays, from 1:30 – 3:30 pm. Origami will be on August 7th. Come join us and learn some origami, there will be plenty of patterned paper to choose from and instruction sheets for all levels of origami! Sign up or call the Centre to register so we know how many supplies are needed.
 
Attention Members! We are looking for a Ukulele teacher for the fall.  If you, or someone you know, is interested in discussing this wonderful opportunity, please let us know!
 
Upcoming:
 
Movie Showing – Tuesday, August 12th, from at 2:00 pm. “Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs” a 1937 Walt Disney Animations film. Adriana Caselotti as Snow White, a sweet and innocent young princess who is forced to hide in the cottage of the seven dwarfs from her wicked stepmother who wants Snow White killed because she is jealous of her beauty and wants to be the fairest in the kingdom. This will be the last movie showing session.
 
Urban Sketching – Rob Cook has agreed to come back and do another 4 weeks of Urban Sketching starting in August. The dates will be Wednesday’s, August 13th, 20th, and 27th, and Wednesday, September 3rd. The sessions will take place from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and will be in various locations around the city. Please call the Centre or put your name on the sign-up sheet to register.
 
Community Notices
 
Mayor’s Ice Cream Social - The Mayor’s Ice Cream Social is happening on Sunday, August 10 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Wilmot Park, next to the splash pad. This community event will feature ice cream from Queen Street Creamery, live music by Don Bosse, lawn games, and more. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy a summer afternoon in the park.
 
Peer Drop-In Group - held every Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the Canadian Mental Health Association of NB Fredericton Office, located at 557 Saint Mary's Street. This is a welcoming space for anyone feeling lost or unsupported, offering a chance to connect, share, and receive support from peers. No registration is required—just drop in. Light snacks and coffee are provided, and the location is accessible by bus, with tickets available.
 
UNB Research Notice – Social, Medical, and Community Accessibility and Inclusion for 2SLGBTQI – The project involves surveys and interviews with those who are 45+, live in the Maritimes, and are members of the community.
