National Day of Truth and Reconciliation The Board of Directors wish to recognize that the Stepping Stone Senior Centre is situated on traditional Wolastoqey territory. The territory of the Wolastoqiyik people are recognized in the Peace and Friendship Treaties to establish an ongoing relationship of peace, friendship and mutual respect between equal nations. The river that runs through our City is known as the Wolastoq, along which lived the Wolastoqiyik,“the people of the beautiful and bountiful river.” Nordic Pole Walking Tune-Up Clinic on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 9:30-11am. $20 per person. This would be good for people who have already taken the Intro sessions or have their own poles. Leader: Jane Stafford. Held at the Centre. Seniors for Climate Change - October 1, 2024 - To celebrate International Day of the Older Person, Seniors for Climate is hosting events across Canada focused on climate change and seniors. A webinar, hosted by the New Brunswick Environment Network and the Stepping Stone Senior Centre, is open to anyone concerned about climate change and the risks it poses to our elders and the most vulnerable. The host is Madeleine Gaudet, Stepping Stone Senior Centre, and in the Panel: • Dr. Renée Turcotte, Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment, New Brunswick, explaining how climate change affects seniors. • Dr. Louise Comeau, Re. Christmas Bus Trip - November 16th 2024 - McAdam Train Station Tour with a Twist- COME ONE , COME ALL Your Christmas Bus Trip , Saturday November 16th 2024 You will board your Bus at 10:45 am at our Fredericton , Grant Harvey Arena.Travel to McAdam where you will enjoy your Lunch at the Lions Club. Enjoy Christmas shopping at a large Craft Sale Followed by the Christmas House Tour at the McAdam Train Station You will be Home by supper time. Volunteering at the Centre – Many volunteering opportunities exist at the Centre. From Reception at the front desk, helping out with fundraisers, facilitating programs and activities, joining the board of directors, serving on a committee, and much more. Community News: Cookie Dough Fundraiser By The Elm City Echoes The Elm City Echoes, Fredericton’s Ladies Barbershop A Cappella Chorus, are selling 3-pound resealable tubs of Mrs. Dunster’s cookie dough as a fundraiser. The cookie dough, freshly made by Mrs. Dunster’s Sussex factory, can be refrigerated or frozen before baking. Each tub makes between 3 and 4 dozen cookies and sells for $15 per tub. There are no peanuts or tree nuts in any products at Mrs. Dunster’s Bakery. Six flavours are available: Chocolate Chip, Rainbow Chip, Shortbread, Ginger Snap, Oatmeal Raisin, and Double Chocolate Chip. Orders accepted until Oct. 11.
