Weekly Update Week of February 2nd, 2026 506-450-7849 Membership Renewal – It’s time to renew your yearly membership, if you have not already. Only $25 for a full year of belonging, socializing, and accessing programs and activities. Your membership entitles you to vote at the Annual General Meeting coming up at the end of February. You can access the Membership Application online at www.SteppingStoneSeniorCentre.com or drop-in the Centre. Simply Making Art Together- Wednesdays at 11:00am. New members welcome. An interactive, one-on-one teaching of various art and painting mediums. Good for the mind and physical therapy. Cost is $5. Sign up or call to register. Attention Members! We are seeking volunteers interested in serving on the Communications Committee or the Membership Committee. We are also seeking a volunteer to chair the Events & Fundraising Committee. Cost $10 for a freshly prepared, hot, full breakfast. The winner of the 50/50 draw at the January breakfast was Sandra S. The pot climbed up to $202. Card & Board Games – Wednesday, February 4th at 10:30 am. This event is part of the Nursing Home Without Walls program. Everyone is welcome! Drop in!! Free!!! Corporate Donations or Sponsorships! Thanks! Upcoming Events: Info Session - Wednesday, February 11th at 3:00 pm. Loads of Laughter Book Project Members, come and learn about this interesting idea of creating a book, that will later be published, of interesting, amusing stories collected from Stepping Stone members. Interviews (30 minutes) will be set up with each individual after this session. Possible topics and examples will be provided. Facilitator: Elizabeth Walker. Info Session - Saturday, February 14th, 1:00-3:00 pm. Laura Guilfoyle, from the SPCA will share information about their services. They are bringing critters!!! Emergency Rooms in N.B. are feeling the impact. Experts are seeing increases among young people but the predominant demographics are those over 65. Pharmacists say it is not too late to get vaccinated. Covid19 tests are available at pharmacies. Our Board of Directors asks you to please use the hand sanitizer available on entering the Centre. Masks are available. If you are able to, please assist with the sanitizing of chairs and equipment used in your program. Together, let’s work to keep you and our Centre community healthy. Community Notices Plant-Powered Potluck - January 31st 6:00 – 8:00 pm; Odell Park Lodge (Upper Level), 397 Rookwood Avenue, Hosted by Mary-Ellen & John Landry, SLS Health Coaching. Open to anyone looking to add more plant-powered recipes and food in their repertoire. What to bring: Appetizers, mains, desserts, soups, salads, hot, cold...anything goes so long as it is made with 100% plant-based ingredients. No animal products, please. This event cannot guarantee or be responsible for those with food allergies or food intolerances. Nuts can be expected. The first virtual session is on Feb. 19, 2026 at 1 pm and is titled: Cognition and Aging: What’s Normal, What’s Not, and How to Protect your Brain. This talk will be offered by Dr. Patrick Feltmate, a Horizon geriatrician. All seniors are welcome. We’re looking for older adults to join a supportive, 6-week program designed to help people feel more connected and build skills for coping with life’s challenges. Each weekly call is 90 minutes, and everything happens over the phone, so no travel required. The online course runs weekly from February 17 to April 7 at 1:00-2:30 PM ET on Zoom, and a recording will be available for a week after each class. To sign up, a small registration fee of $25 is required. The course is led by Dr. Martin Bush, Ph.D., a climate researcher. Registering: at this link Men’s Wellness Collective – a Support Group meets every Tuesday at 6:30 pm at 75 Melissa St., Pepper Creek (3rd door on the side of the building). Reminder: The Centre is closed all day and evening when the local schools (i.e. Anglophone West School District – Zone 6) are closed because of stormy weather or poor driving conditions. If you have a rental on those dates, you’ll be refunded or rescheduled. Any day that the Centre is closed, notices are emailed to Members, posted on Facebook, and announced on CBC.
