Mindful Stretch & Mobility with Nancy Swartz – Wednesdays at 9:00 am. February 18th will be a Demo class to introduce this gentle, chair-based class to support balance and comfort in everyday activities, reduce stiffness and tension, and encourage relaxation and body awareness. Please register at the Centre. Regular classes are $12 for drop-in. Information Session: Wednesday, February 18th, 10:30 am. Understanding Delirium in Later Life with Dr. Janet Durkee-Lloyd. Not all memory loss or confusion in older adults is dementia. Come learn why early recognition if so important. Info Sessions are open to the public so bring your friends and neighbours! Scrabble Tournament – Saturday, February 21st at 1:00pm- cost $5. Minimum number of 2 tables required. Call or stop at the Centre to register. Simply Making Art Together- Wednesdays at 11:00am. New members welcome. An interactive, one-on-one teaching of various art and painting mediums. Good for the mind and physical therapy. Cost is $5. Sign up at the Centre or call to register. Upcoming Events: Annual General Meeting – Wednesday, February 25th, 1:30 pm. In person or by Zoom. -You can pick up the package of materials at the Centre or call and have it emailed directly to you. -If you’d like to join the meeting by Zoom, please let us know so we can send you the link. -We are looking for submissions for Volunteer of the Year. Community Health - The Flu Season in full swing. Please Sanitize!! Pharmacists say it is not too late to get vaccinated. Covid19 tests are available at pharmacies. Our Board of Directors asks you to please use the hand sanitizer available on entering the Centre. Masks are available. If you are able to, please assist with the sanitizing of chairs and equipment used in your program. Together, let’s work to keep you and our Centre community healthy. Notices of Interest from the Centre: Membership Renewal – It’s time to renew your yearly membership, if you have not already. Only $25 for a full year of belonging, socializing, and accessing programs and activities. Your membership entitles you to vote at the Annual General Meeting coming up at the end of February. Your Board of Directors is seeking a volunteer to lead the Events & Fundraising Committee. If you would like to nominate someone, we will contact them and provide them with the necessary details. On Saturday, February 7th, SSSC had a booth at the Valentine’s Market at Scott’s Nursery. Community Notices The Horizon’s Seniors Health program is partnering with Zoomers in Balance to offer quarterly education sessions for seniors online! The first virtual session is on Feb. 19, 2026 at 1 pm and is titled: Cognition and Aging: What’s Normal, What’s Not, and How to Protect your Brain. This talk will be offered by Dr. Patrick Feltmate, a Horizon geriatrician. All seniors are welcome. We’re looking for older adults to join a supportive, 6-week program designed to help people feel more connected and build skills for coping with life’s challenges. Each weekly call is 90 minutes, and everything happens over the phone, so no travel required. The online course runs weekly from February 17 to April 7 at 1:00-2:30 PM ET on Zoom, and a recording will be available for a week after each class. To sign up, a small registration fee of $25 is required. The course is led by Dr. Martin Bush, Ph.D., a climate researcher. For more info: 506-478-6034 Men’s Wellness Collective – a Support Group meets every Tuesday at 6:30 pm at 75 Melissa St., Pepper Creek (3rd door on the side of the building). Reminder: The Centre is closed all day and evening when the local schools (i.e. Anglophone West School District – Zone 6) are closed because of stormy weather or poor driving conditions. If you have a rental on those dates, you’ll be refunded or rescheduled. Any day that the Centre is closed, notices are emailed to Members, posted on Facebook, and announced on CBC. No notice means we’re open!
