1. Please note: Centre Closure In Respect of Truth and Reconciliation, The Centre will be closed on Monday Oct. 2nd 2. Open House: Sunday October 1st is International Day of the Older Person. The Board of Directors of the Stepping Stone Senior Centre are pleased to invite you to join them at an open house on Sunday, October 1, 2023, to celebrate International Day of Older Persons. The event will be held at the Stepping Stone Senior Centre, 15 Saunders St. from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. We hope you will be able to drop in and celebrate with us. 3. Breakfast- Saturday October 7th 8:00- 11:00. $10.00 Family and friends are welcome! 4. Returning Programs/ Events Beginner Bridge Lessons- Starting Tuesday October 3rd at 2:00pm for 8 weeks Cost $25.00. Sign up at the Centre. Nordic Walking- Wednesday October 4th starting at 9:30. This is an introduction session to Nordic Walking. Led by a certified NPW Instructor and includes a gentle walk at a slow place for a short period of time. Poles are available at the Centre for your use. Tuesday, October 10- 10:30- Core Strength and Mobility( Level 3). Enhance you core strength and mobility endurance with a system of movements influenced by Pilates, Yoga, and sports training to increase joint mobility and stability from head to toe. Incorporates balance with core strength. Work standing and on mats( bring your own). Tuesday, October 10, 11:30- Functional Mobility(Level1).Enhance your movement longevity. Work through a system of movements designed to increase joint mobility and stability from head to toe. This program incorporates balance with core strength and flexibility to avoid falls, a major source of injury. Use of chairs and all other equipment provided. Thursday, October 12, 10:30 - Active Mobility(Level 2). After 6/12 weeks of Functional Mobility, you are ready for this challenge to improve core mobility endurance for an active life. You will work through movements designed to increase joint mobility and stability from head to toe incorporating balance with core strength and flexibility. Work standing, sitting, and some on floor mat( bring your own). Friday, October 13, 10:30- Learn to Row. A 10 week program to learn the basics of using an indoor rowing machine. A full body exercise that promotes strength, coordination, balance and cardiovascular fitness. You are seated and your body weight supported so to adapt easily which is excellent for mobility challenges. We have the machines, you bring the sneakers, water bottle and sense of adventure for something new. Friday, October 13, 11:30- Rowing Fitness- A follow up to the Learn to Row class. You are now ready to l prove fitness through rowing. Continue to work on strength, coordination, balance, and cardiovascular fitness. Rowing machines provided. Bring sneakers and water bottle. This same class will be offered on Mondays, starting October 16 at 11:30.
Expo to promote Healthy Aging- Saturday October 14th from 10:00am to 2:00am at Leo Hayes High School. Open to all. no cost.

Forum – Wednesday, September 27th at 3:30 pm - Advanced Care Planning. ACP is a process of reflection and communication. Taking the time to think about your values and wishes and to let others know what kind of health and personal care you would want in the future in the event that you are not able to make your own decision such as consenting to or refusing treatment or other care. Presenters: Jan Grant and Jodi Lee-White. 3. Open House: Sunday October 1st is International Day of the Older Person. The Board of Directors of the Stepping Stone Senior Centre is pleased to invite you to join them at an Open House to celebrate International Day of Older Persons. The event will be held at the Stepping Stone Senior Centre, 15 Saunders St. from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. We hope you will be able to drop in and celebrate with us. In Honour of International Day of Older Persons, the City of Fredericton will be holding a flag raising ceremony on Friday, September 29th at 11:00am in front of City Hall. 4. Covid 19 Protocol Update The Board of Directors met on September 13, and reviewed the latest Province of New Brunswick Covid-19 report. The Board will continue to monitor the Provincial and local stats and make any changes to the Centre’s Protocol as deemed necessary for the health and safety of all who enter the Centre. Please Note:
