Week of March 25th, 2024 506.450.7849 https://www.steppingstoneseniorcentre.com [email protected] Senior Centre Without Walls: Senior Centre without Walls- On Tuesday, March 26 from 2:30 to 3:00, we will be connecting by telephone to the Ottawa Centre for a program on Mindfulness- Join us for a moment of mindfulness as you’re gently guided through grounding and relaxing meditation techniques. No prior meditation experience necessary. If you wish to participate, please call the Centre ( 506-450-7848 or 506-668-0141), leave your name and telephone, and Madeleine will contact you to confirm your participation and answer any questions you may have. . We invite those interested in participating or know of someone who might like to connect with others and try it out. Introduction to Virtual Reality- A further session is scheduled for March 27th at 3:00pm. Presented by the students of NBCC. Community Volunteer Income Tax Program- Next: Friday April 5 1:00 to 4:00 and Saturday April 13 10:00 to 2:00. In Other News Food Bank Basket- We have a basket in the front lobby for non- perishable items. The contents will be delivered to the Food Bank as the basket is filled. Used Jeans- We are still collecting used jeans for a member who makes quilts and aprons. Jam Jars- Always looking for donations of 250 ml jars only. You may drop them off at the Centre. Thank you. Community News Death Café- Wednesday, March 27th, 2:30-4:00 at the Brookside Wellness Centre. Death Café is a gathering of adults who want to talk about death and dying in a supportive, respectful, and confidential space. The goal of becoming more comfortable thinking and talking about death and dying. For more information contact [email protected] Discount for Members- The CAZZA Shop - Women’s Fashions and Accessories in the Regent Mall is offering a 10% discount to members of the Stepping Stone Senior Centre. Dementia: Connections and Communications- This is a very informative one-hour session presented by Robin Smart, Public Education Coordinator, from the Alzheimer Society Waterloo/ Wellington. She shares the 10 warning signs of Dementia and the best practices for communication. There is reference to additional resources. When you arrive, you need to ask to sit at the Charity Table. They don’t sit you there automatically. This is an easy way to contribute to the Centre!!! Snow Day Policy: When the schools are closed in the Fredericton region (Zone 6) due to weather. The Centre is closed for the day.
