Senior Centre Without Walls: Tuesday, April 9th from 2:30 to 3:15, we will be connecting by telephone to the Ottawa Centre for a program on Defying Dementia. Did you know that up to 40% of risk factors for dementia can be managed by life style choices? Join us to learn more and hear from those with lived experiences. If you wish to participate, please call the Centre 506-450-7849 or 506-668-0141, leave your name and telephone, and you will be contacted to confirm your participation and answer any questions you may have. From the Centre For Innovation And Research in Aging- A presentation on: The Passive Aware Research study that is looking to recruit caregivers of older adults with memory loss to participate in a research study that looks to see if passive monitoring technology can reduce caregiver burden and stress. Come and learn more about the study and how you can participate. Presented by Molly Schriver- Research Coordinator with the Centre for Innovation and Research in Aging. Auction 45 Tournament- Saturday April 13th starting at 1:30 pm. Sign up sheet is posted at the Centre. Lunch around Freddy-Wednesday April 17th at The Courtyard at The Ramada at 11:30am. New Programs Stringed Instruments Maintenance Workshop- One time session( no cost), with Marc Schneider. Wednesday, April 10th at 2:45pm to 3:45pm. Using some of his own instruments, Marc will demonstrate action evaluation (height of strings above fretboard), intonation (being in tune up the fretboard) and finding the source of rattling or buzzing on a string. He can also discuss how to change or modify nuts and saddles. If you bring an instrument, he can assist you. Community News Community Volunteer Income Tax Program - Friday April 5th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and Saturday April 13th from 10:00pm to 2:00pm In Other News Food Bank Basket- We have a basket in the front lobby for non- perishable items. The contents will be delivered to the Food Bank as the basket is filled. Used Jeans- We are still collecting used jeans for a member who makes quilts and aprons. Jam Jars- Always looking for donations of 250 ml jars only. You may drop them off at the Centre. Thank you. Offer for Stepping Stone Senior Centre: TireChangers.ca – A mobile Tire Change Service that is fully insured. Cost is $ 48.75 + tax= $56.06. $25 from every tire change will be donated back to Stepping Stone Senior Centre. Tires must be on rims. Call 506-405-3882 to reserve your spot.
