On Tuesday, April 2 from 2:00 to 2:30 the topic is The Solar Eclipse in NB and will be presented by Don Kelly, an amateur Astronomer; a retired science teacher; a founding member of the Dr. William Brydone Jack Astronomy Club in Fredericton, and a member of the Astronomical Society of Canada. Community Volunteer Income Tax Program - Friday April 5th from 1:00 to 4:00 and Saturday April 13th from 10:00 to 2:00. Forum - Wednesday April 3rd 3:00pm – The Tension Triangle- Presented by Ann Marie Hartford. In this presentation we will explore the connection between physical tension and psychological stress and we will share tips to ease both. Breakfast - April 6th from 8-11am. Cost is $10 . All are welcome. There is the opportunity to play in the breakfast 50/50. At the last breakfast the winner and the Centre shared $228. Jim Campbell Trio featuring Isaac Gould (17-year-old Jazz Singer) Saturday April 6th at 2:00pm. Donations gratefully accepted. Upcoming Auction 45 Tournament- Saturday April 13th starting at 1:30 pm. Cost is $5 Sign up at the centre. Lunch around Freddy-Wednesday April 17th at The Courtyard at The Ramada- 11:30am. Please sign up by noon on April 16th. New Program Stringed Instruments Maintenance Workshop- One time session, Wednesday, April 10th at 2:45pm. New Sessions Rowing for Fitness- Beginning Friday April 5th at 11:30am. Learn to Row- Beginning Friday April 5th at 11:30am. Core Strength Mobility- Beginning Tuesday April 9th at 10:30am. Functional Mobility- Beginning Tuesday April 9th at 11:30am. Functional Mobility- Beginning Thursday April 11th at 11:45am. In Other News Food Bank Basket- We have a basket in the front lobby for non- perishable items. The contents will be delivered to the Food Bank as the basket is filled. Used Jeans- We are still collecting used jeans for a member who makes quilts and aprons. Jam Jars- Always looking for donations of 250 ml jars only. You may drop them off at the Centre. Thank you. Community News Discount for Members- The CAZZA Shop - Women’s Fashions and Accessories in the Regent Mall is offering a 10% discount to members of the Stepping Stone Senior Centre. Dementia: Connections and Communications- This is a very informative one-hour session presented by Robin Smart, Public Education Coordinator, from the Alzheimer Society Waterloo/ Wellington. She shares the 10 warning signs of Dementia and the best practices for communication. There is reference to additional resources. The session was recorded, and you may view via the following link: https://youtu.be/vn2UeqNho7Y The Blue Canoe is offering the Centre a percentage of the sales from their Charity Table until March 31st. When you arrive, you need to ask to sit at the Charity Table. They don’t sit you there automatically. This is an easy way to contribute to the Centre!!! Snow Day Policy: When the schools are closed in the Fredericton region (Zone 6) due to weather. The Centre is closed for the day.
