Week of October 16th, 2023 506.450.7849 [email protected] In This Update: 1.Expo For Seniors to Promote Healthy Aging- Saturday October 14th from 10:00am to 2:00am at Leo Hayes High School. Open to all at no cost. There will be 50 Exhibitors, 4 Information sessions ( Library) and 4 Try It sessions (side gym) 2 Wednesday October 18th at 11:30- Lunch around Freddy- Porter’s Diner. Sign up before October 17th. 3. Forum-Wednesday -October 18th at 3:30- Tim Yerxa, Executive Director of Fredericton Playhouse Inc. will give an update on the status of the new Fredericton Performing Arts Centre project – and an important milestone that has recently been reached. He’ll walk through final designs of the building and spaces and outline the funding plan, including the newly launched Encore! community campaign. The Performing Arts Centre will be a community hub that will remove barriers to accessing the performing arts, and Tim will speak to the universal design elements being incorporated into the building, making it much easier for seniors – and all citizens – to experience the magic onstage. 4. Saturday October 21 2:00 to 3:00- The Jim Campbell Jazz Trio - Howard Baer (bass), Jim Campbell (saxophone) and Steven Peacock (guitar) perform solo and, for the first time ever, as a live jazz trio. All are welcome; donations appreciated. 5. Friends Program- Continues until the end of December. The Centre’s annual appeal for financial support for the Stepping Stone Senior Centre through our “Friends Program”. 6. Upcoming Forum- Wednesday-October 25th at 10:30 **NOTE the TIME- Vision Loss Rehab- Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada is a not-for- profit national healthcare organization and leading provider of rehabilitation services for individuals with vision loss at no cost. Presented by Adrienne McNair, Client Care Navigator. The services address unique needs- the everyday activities that sighted people take for granted- like reading medication labels, walking in their neighbourhood, or preparing meals. They teach skills and techniques, how to use visual aids, technology, and white canes. Saturday-October 28th-1:30 pm- Auction 45’s and Pizza. Sign up at the centre single or by table of 4.
